Billie Joe Armstrong

Billie Joe Armstrong, born February 17, 1972 is an American rock musician and occasional actor, best known as the lead vocalist, main songwriter and lead guitarist for the American punk rock band Green Day. He is also a guitarist and vocalist for the punk rock band Pinhead Gunpowder and provides lead vocals for garage rock band Foxboro Hot Tubs when not working with Green Day. Armstrong has also pursued musical projects outside of Green Day's work, including numerous collaborations with other musicians as well as serving as the primary vocalist for the bands Pinhead Gunpowder and Foxboro Hot Tubs.

Rock Music

Rock music is a genre of popular music that developed during and after the 1960s, particularly in the United Kingdom and the United States. It has its roots in 1940s and 1950s rock and roll, itself heavily influenced by rhythm and blues and country music. Rock music also drew strongly on a number of other genres such as blues and folk, and incorporated influences from jazz, classical and other musical sources.

Phil Anselmo

Philip Hansen "Phil" Anselmo (born June 30, 1968) is an American musician who is best known as the lead singer for the heavy metal band Pantera. He is currently the frontman for the Louisiana-based metal act Down. He is also the owner of Housecore Records. Phil Anselmo started life in New Orleans and attended Grace King High School located in the suburb of Metairie. His father owned and operated a restaurant in Metairie called Anselmo's, which closed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Anselmo has said in various interviews that he was very quiet and secluded as a child. He spent some time working on fishing boats as a young man. During a 2002 Ozzfest interview with the radio show Opie and Anthony, Anselmo shared a story that, at the age of 15, he started a fire in his home to scare his sister but accidentally burned the house down in the process. While a teenager, Anselmo joined the band Samhain. From the early to mid '80s, Anselmo was a member of the band Razor White. While they did have some original material, they mainly played Judas Priest covers.

Bill Ward

William Thomas "Bill" Ward (Bill Ward), born 5 May 1948, Aston, Birmingham, England, is an English musician, best known as the original drummer for the British heavy metal band Black Sabbath. In addition to playing drums as an original founding member of the band, Ward sang lead vocals for two Black Sabbath songs; "It's Alright" from Technical Ecstasy and "Swinging the Chain" from Never Say Die!. He also coined the term "downer rock." Ward's drumming often closely doubled the bass and guitar riffs. An example of this is the song "Iron Man" on the Paranoid album.

Geezer Butler

Geezer Butler, born Terence Michael Joseph Butler on 17 July 1949 in Birmingham, England, is an English musician and songwriter. Butler is best known as the bassist and lyricist of heavy metal band Black Sabbath. He was also involved in Heaven & Hell from 2006 to 2010. Butler formed his first band, Rare Breed, with old friend John "Ozzy" Osbourne in the autumn of 1967. Separated for a time, Osbourne and Butler reunited in the blues foursome, Polka Tulk, along with guitarist Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward. They renamed their band Earth, but after finding a band in the small-time English circuit with the same name, soon adopted Black Sabbath in early 1969.

Tony Iommi

Anthony Frank "Tony" Iommi, born 19 February 1948, in Aston, Birmingham, England is an English guitarist and songwriter best known as the founding member of heavy metal–pioneer band Black Sabbath, and the sole constant band member through multiple personnel changes. Iommi is widely recognised as one of the most important and influential guitarists in heavy metal music. According to Allmusic, "Iommi is one of only two guitarists (the other being Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page) that can take full credit for pioneering the mammoth riffs of heavy metal."

Ozzy Osbourne

John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne, born December 3, 1948, is an English singer-songwriter and occasional actor, whose career has spanned over 40 years. As of December 2010, Ozzy Osbourne has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. Osbourne rose to prominence as lead vocalist of the pioneering English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, a band whose radically different, intentionally dark, doom sound spawned the heavy metal genre. In his subsequent solo career Osbourne achieved a multi-platinum status in addition to the one he had earned with Black Sabbath. 

Dimebag Darrell

Darrell Lance Abbott, also known as "Diamond Darrell", and "Dimebag Darrell" (August 20, 1966 – December 8, 2004) was an American guitarist, best known as a founding member of the heavy metal bands Pantera and Damageplan. He also performed in the southern metal band Rebel Meets Rebel. Along with fellow Pantera member Rex Brown, he is considered one of the driving forces behind Groove Metal.

Mikael Akerfeldt

Lars Mikael Åkerfeldt,born 17 April 1974 is a Swedish musician who achieved fame as the lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter of progressive death metal band Opeth as well as the lead vocalist of death metal band Bloodbath. He was the vocalist and guitarist for the band Sörskogen and the guitarist of the band Steel. He is known for his progressive rock-influenced songwriting style and his frequent use of both clean and growled vocals.

Eric Adams (Manowar)

Eric Adams (Louis Marullo) has been the singer of the heavy metal band Manowar since 1980. Before he became the band's singer in 1980, he had sung for a group, called LOOKS. In the band was also future Manowar bassist and childhood friend, Joey DeMaio. Eric Adams was born on 12 July 1954, in Auburn, New York. As a child, he loved playing the guitar and started showing interest in music when he was at the age of nine. He formed his own garage band in 1965, as mentioned below. In his early days, he would not show his esteem for the metal genre of music. His band-formed by him and his classmates, would make little concerts in the mid '60s, performing songs with an emphasis on child love stories. He later, in 1980, joined the newly founded band Manowar and has been the lead vocalist still to this day.

Abbath Doom Occulta

Olve Eikemo (born 27 June 1973, Bergen, Norway), better known by his stage name Abbath Doom Occulta, is a Norwegian composer, vocalist, guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, drummer, and one of the founding members of the black metal band Immortal. Before he founded Immortal, Abbath played bass for the early Norwegian extreme metal band Old Funeral, with future Immortal member Demonaz and Varg Vikernes of Burzum fame (though they were not all in the band at the same time). While working with Old Funeral, he also joined Demonaz's band Amputation which later became Immortal. He also plays bass in Demonaz's newly started project Demonaz.

Although he is primarily a guitarist, he is also proficient as a drummer, using techniques such as blast beats and double bass (as heard on the Immortal albums Pure Holocaust and Battles In The North) which are highly present in black metal.
